Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 April 2026.
This Privacy Policy describes how Moroccan.biz (“the site”, “we”) collects, uses and protects information about visitors. It applies to the website published at https://moroccan.biz/ and to any correspondence you address to us. By using the site you accept the practices described below. If any of them is unacceptable to you, please do not continue to use the site.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Moroccan.biz is an independent editorial information portal covering Morocco's economy, industries, investment climate and regulatory environment. The editorial team is the data controller for personal data processed through the site. The single contact point for any privacy question is:
Email: [email protected]
Subject line to use: “Privacy request”
2. What information we collect
We deliberately keep the amount of personal data we handle to a minimum. In practice, three categories of information are involved.
- Information you voluntarily send us by email. If you contact us via [email protected], we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message. We use this information only to answer you and to follow up on factual corrections, contribution proposals or research enquiries. We do not add you to a marketing list.
- Technical information collected automatically. Like any website, our hosting provider records standard server logs when a page is requested. These logs typically include IP address, timestamp, requested URL, HTTP status code, referring URL, user-agent string and approximate geographic region derived from the IP address. Server logs are used for security monitoring and to diagnose availability issues, and are retained for no longer than a rolling twelve-month period.
- Analytics and advertising data. We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate traffic and we use Google AdSense to serve display advertising. Both services set cookies and collect identifiers that may qualify as personal data under European and UK law. Their role is described in detail in sections 4 and 5 below and in our separate Cookie Policy.
We do not ask you to create an account, we do not operate a newsletter, we do not run a paid directory, and we do not collect payment information. There is no contact form on the site that submits data to our servers.
3. Legal bases for processing
For visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the legal bases under the GDPR and the UK GDPR on which we rely are:
- Consent for non-essential cookies used by analytics and advertising (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw consent at any time; see section 9 and the Cookie Policy.
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) for keeping security server logs, for responding to correspondence you initiate, and for aggregate, non-identifying measurement of how the site is used. We balance these interests against your rights and freedoms and only rely on them where the impact on you is minimal.
4. Google Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics (GA4, measurement ID visible in the site's HTML) operated by Google Ireland Limited. Google Analytics places cookies and receives information about your visit, including a pseudonymous client identifier, pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser characteristics, and the referring site. Google processes this information on our behalf under a data-processing agreement to produce aggregated statistics that help us understand which content is useful and where it is being read.
IP addresses sent to Google Analytics are truncated before storage under our configuration. We do not combine Google Analytics data with data that identifies you personally. Information collected by Google Analytics is transferred to and processed in the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and equivalent UK and Swiss transfer mechanisms.
You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser or through your consent choices described in our Cookie Policy.
5. Google AdSense and advertising partners
Moroccan.biz displays advertising served by Google AdSense, operated by Google Ireland Limited. When ads are loaded, Google and its approved third-party advertising vendors may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to:
- show ads that are relevant to you (“personalised” or “interest-based” advertising), using information inferred from your browsing activity on this and other websites;
- show non-personalised, contextual ads based on the content of the page and your approximate location;
- measure the performance of ads, limit how often you see the same ad, detect fraud and abuse, and report aggregate performance to the advertiser.
As disclosed by Google: a third-party vendor, including Google, may serve ads to this site; third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites; and Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can review and control how Google uses information for advertising, including opting out of personalised advertising, at Google's Advertising policies page and at adssettings.google.com. You can opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising more broadly by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices (Digital Advertising Alliance, United States) and www.youronlinechoices.eu (European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance).
Our public ads.txt file at https://moroccan.biz/ads.txt lists the authorised digital sellers of advertising inventory on this site.
6. Other third-party services
The site is served by a commercial web-hosting provider and its content-delivery network, which processes request logs on our behalf for the purpose of delivering pages reliably and securely. We do not currently embed third-party video players, comment systems, chat widgets, social-network share buttons or external JavaScript trackers beyond the Google Analytics and Google AdSense services described above.
7. How long we keep information
- Email correspondence: retained for as long as is necessary to respond to your message and to keep a short record of the exchange for editorial-integrity purposes, and in any event no longer than three years from the last contact, unless a longer retention is required to defend a legal claim.
- Server access logs: rolling twelve-month retention.
- Google Analytics data: retained under the retention period configured in the Google Analytics account, with IP truncation applied on collection. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics may be retained indefinitely.
- Advertising cookies and identifiers: retained by Google and its partners according to their respective policies.
8. International transfers
Moroccan.biz is produced from Morocco and uses third-party services (notably Google) which transfer personal data to the United States and to other jurisdictions outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Morocco. These transfers rely on the legal mechanisms put in place by those service providers — principally the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the UK Extension to the Framework, the Swiss-US Framework, and, where applicable, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and the corresponding UK International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, data-protection law grants you rights in relation to your personal data. For readers covered by the GDPR, the UK GDPR, California's CCPA/CPRA, or Morocco's Law 09-08, these rights generally include:
- the right to access the personal data we hold about you;
- the right to have inaccurate data corrected;
- the right to have your data erased when we no longer need it;
- the right to restrict or object to certain processing, including processing for direct marketing;
- the right to data portability for data you have provided to us;
- the right to withdraw consent at any time for processing based on consent (for example, non-essential cookies);
- for California residents, the right to know what personal information is collected and disclosed, the right to delete personal information, the right to correct inaccurate personal information, the right to limit use and disclosure of sensitive personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights — Moroccan.biz does not “sell” personal information in the traditional sense, but the use of advertising cookies as described in section 5 may constitute a “sale” or “share” under California law, and you can opt out of such sharing by declining non-essential cookies and using the Google and industry opt-out links referenced above;
- for Moroccan residents, the right to request exercise of the protections recognised by the National Commission for the Protection of Personal Data (CNDP) under Law 09-08.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with “Privacy request” in the subject line and describe what you would like us to do. We will respond within the timescales required by the law that applies to you (typically one month under GDPR/UK GDPR, forty-five days under CCPA/CPRA, extendable as permitted). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority — the CNIL in France, the ICO in the United Kingdom, the CNDP in Morocco, the California Privacy Protection Agency in California, and equivalent authorities elsewhere.
10. Children
Moroccan.biz is a business-information site aimed at adult readers. It is not designed for, marketed to or intended to be used by children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
11. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the limited personal data we handle. No method of transmission over the internet is, however, fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send highly sensitive information (for example government-issued identity numbers, bank details or health information) by email unless we have specifically asked you to.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the services we use, to our editorial practice, or to the law. The date at the top of the page will be revised whenever the policy is updated. Material changes will be signalled on the homepage for a reasonable period. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
